Two new seasons of FLCL announced

The first of them will premiere next year 2023, while details about the second have not yet been given. Hitoshi Takekiyo (Houkago Midnighters) directs FLCL: Grunge for the studio MontBlanc Pictures (Houkago Midnighters: Short Movies Season 2). For its part, yutaka umura (FLCL Alternative, Youjo Senki) is directing FLCL: Shoegaze for Studios Production I.G. (Haikyuu!!, Ghost in the Shell) and NUT (FLCL Alternative, Deca-Dence). What’s more, Maki Terashima-Furuta (FLCL Alternative, Fena: Pirate Princess) produces both seasons, while Jason DeMarco is the executive producer. The original anime of FLCL is a science fiction animated project co-produced by Gainax studios and Production IG. The futuristic and surreal world of the series was developed in a total of 6 OVAs which aired between April 2000 and March 2001. They were a critical success, instantly becoming a cult piece. Later in 2018, the FLCL Progressive and FLCL Alternative anime premiered.
FLCL also spawned a series of light novels written by Yōji Enokido and published by Kadokawa under its Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint and a manga adaptation in 2000 in Kodansha’s Magazine Z. hajime ueda He was the author of shaping the manga, which would end with a total of 2 volumes.
