The development of the second season began in November 2020 and was affirmed in July 2021. The writers and directors were all hired by late February 2022.

The Loki season 2 has produced by Marvel Studios with Eric Martin as head writer, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead as director duo, and Tom Hiddlestone and Michael Waldron returning as executive producers. Michael Waldron said that the season would continue the story of the first season but in a divergent way.


Tom Hiddlestone will reprise his role as Loki, with Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, and Eugene Cordero as Casey/ Hunter K-5E from the first season. The president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, stated that the whole cast would return from the first season.

The filming of Loki Season 2 began on June 13, 2022, at Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom, with Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead serving as directors and Issac Bauman as cinematographer. Formerly, the filming was supposed to begin in January 2022, under the production title Architect.


Loki Season 2 will be airing on Disney+. It will consist of six episodes, written by Eric Martin, with Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead directing the episodes.

Tom Hiddlestone previously told Marvel that there have been “deep discussions” about what Loki season 2 will bring about and that he hopes it will be full of even more surprises. Also, the director duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead say viewers can expect “something new and fresh” in the new series.
