The Plot

House of the dragon episode 3

The show is set 200 years prior to the Game of thrones events. Certain portions from George RR Martin’s  A Song of Ice and Fire book series and book Fire and Blood have served as the plot for season 1. It revolves around the family “Targaryen” family who has a close kinship with Dragons. This has allowed them to have control over the continent of Westeros.

However, instead of an outside battle, there is an inner family feud where the ruler Viserys I has to choose between his daughter and brother both blood relations as the successor to the Throne. Will this tug of war lead to the Targaryen family’s downfall?

On being asked about the House of the Dragon Episode 1, one of the cast members expressed that this prequel has a story that focuses on women who aim to overthrow the institution of Patriarchy that is very much relevant in the present scenario as well.

Review of Episode 2

A comparatively slow than the introductory episode, the second chapter of the ten-episode series devotes some time to developing the background of the show. We witness men, as usual exercising the power of decision-making even when it pertains to women. Rhaenyra played by Emma Zia D’Arcy is hell-bent on proving her competency to be a deserving heir. Even though, the men around her do nothing but look down on her. If the show is putting women at the center stage of the narrative — that it so claims of, shouldn’t they be giving more dialogues to women?

However, it is too early to point fingers at the show as just two episodes have been out. Hoping for a more fierce character arc in House of the Dragon episode 3.

House of the dragon episode 3

The trailer of House of the Dragon episode 3 seems like an absolute bombshell. Things get more heated up, as Otto Hightower declares that Emperor Viserys I newborn son Aegon will be the King. Viserys even suggested to Rhaenyra that she will too have her own child soon. Furious Rhaenyra adamantly announces that “she did not wish to get married”.

The comment makes the argument between the two even more heated. Wait for House of the Dragon episode 3 for the events to unfold.
