Farhan Akhtar has spoken about whether his character Waleed from Ms Marvel will return in the future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects.
Farhan Akhtar recently made his debut in Marvel Cinematic Universe(MCU) with the character Waleed in the first-ever Muslim superhero, Disney+ series, Ms Marvel. Ms Marvel is an American miniseries based on the Marvel Comics character Kamala Khan/ Ms Marvel. It is the seventh series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe produced by Marvel Studios.
The actor appeared in the fourth episode of the series, which premiered on June 8, 2022, on Disney+. Farhan played the role of Waleed, a member of the Red Draggers Society, and highlights the nature of the Clandestine to Kamala Khan’s character, played by Iman Vellani.
Surprisingly, his character ended on a cliffhanger and left everyone uncertain about his return to the future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. It is the first appearance of Indian filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
What Farhan Akhtar says about the return of Waleed?
Waleed, Farhan Akhtar’s character, was introduced and killed in the fourth episode of the Ms Marvel series, leaving fans in distress. Marvel fans will know that a character’s death in Marvel is not always permanent, and the fans have been wondering whether the character will return.
Farhan Akhtar has talked about whether the character Waleed will return in the future with AV Club, saying, “Now, you know only Marvel can answer this question. But all I can say is young Red Dagger (Aramis Knight) didn’t even check Waleed’s pulse. So we’ll see.”
Farhan has also spoken about how he came into the act in Marvel’s with AV Club, saying, “I’m a huge fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from Iron Man to everything else that had made. When you’re watching something of this scale, this thought of, ‘Oh, I wish I could be part of something like it,’ is always there. So when I got a call from my agent that, ‘They’re looking for someone out of India and are hoping you’ll do this part,’ I had to pinch myself.”
He continued, “I had a magnificient conversation with the producers and director. They told me about Ms Marvel and what they’re hoping to get out of the show, which is about the first Pakistani-American superhero of her kind. It’s steeped in culture from the subcontinent; it talks about what makes us who we are. It felt special, and I just had to do it.”
Speaking to India Today, Farhan Akhtar said, “Obviously, I am not the person to answer this question. Honestly, I consider myself lucky to have been part of the very first one that has created in the Marvel universe. There is such a buzz about the show. There is so much love coming in for the character of Kamala. I am sure it is going to open up doors, and it will create more content. There has to be a first, and it happens to be now. We should all be thankful that it is happening, and we look forward to some more fun times.”
Farhan Akhtar is said to direct an upcoming female friendship road trip film, ‘Jee Le Zaraa’, starring Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif. The film will be released sometime next year.
