There were a lot of rumors about new Blizzard projects before BlizzConline. Blizzard fans were waiting for news about the upcoming and rumored Diablo 2 remake. During the opening ceremony, Blizzard revealed Diablo 2 Resurrected, a 3D remake of Blizzard’s classic RPG. The game should be released sometime this year for PC and consoles. Here is the announcement trailer: According to the news, the game will be a faithful remaster of the original Diablo 2 and its Lord of Destruction DLC. The developers said that Diablo 2 Resurrected will not be just a simple graphics update, but a complete new version in a 3D environment. In case you didn’t know, the original game was made of 2D sprites, while the remake will use 3D models and environments. However, if you want to experience the game in its original form, there will be an option to toggle the original graphics. In addition, the new version of the game can be play in 4K resolution. The Diablo 2 Resurrected team also said that 27 minutes of the game’s cutscenes were updated. Lastly, the game will feature a completely new sound system, 7.1 Dolby Surround, for better immersion. Diablo 2 Resurrected will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch.
