Enrique Bunbury has just shared a statement in which he announces that he will stop concerts and tours as of next September, due to health problems: “My throat closes and irritates, and my respiratory tract makes it difficult for the slightest exercise and the execution of my work”. The full statement below: “To whom it may concern. For a few years, I have been dragging a malaise that has cost me a lot to locate and understand. Possibly, since the Mutaciones tour in 15-16 and especially in the Expectations, in the almost two and a half years that the tour lasted, between 17 and 19. The break in the international tours, on the 20th and 21st, made me think that perhaps my illness had been diluted and the desire to meet again with the public, technicians and musicians on stage, it was a much more powerful force. What has happened to me on this Mexican tour corroborates the opposite and confirms and advances, a decision that I knew was close. From the moment I leave my house and start traveling and shows, a compendium of symptoms and pains accompany me from the morning until the moment I get on the show. I have heard different names and diagnoses. The reality is that my throat is closed and irritated, and my airways make it difficult for the slightest exercise and I executed it tion of my work. So what was normally pleasure and delight has become a source of immense pain and suffering. None of this ever happens to me, if I’m not on tour. Thus, I have made the decision, very thoughtful and conscious, to abandon my interpretive activity, in concerts and tours. The concerts that remain pending between now and September 2022 in the United States and Spain will be the last ones I perform. From now on, endless possibilities open up before me, in which creativity, that is, composing songs, recording albums , painting and writing poetry books are part of my goals. I am old enough to make this important change in my life and the support of my family and management. I want to thank and be extremely respectful to all those who have accompanied me up to here, the public that gave me their affection and love, in the more than a thousand five hundred concerts that I have offered in my life, in Spain, Europe, Latin America, the United States and Japan. In these 35 years, I have been on the best stages in the world and some of the worst, I have performed in front of 25 people and 250 thousand and, in most of them, I have been fortunate to enjoy a time when neither masks nor cell phones were seen. Sincere thanks! I hope that what I can offer you from now on will continue to interest you minimally. Thus, I also want to thank my band, the Holy Innocents, and all my technical and management team. It has been a great journey. Thank you all.Enrique Bunbury.”His 35 years tour is gaining even more interest, with the following dates pending.May (2022)
